“We came to Iasi to create jobs” – Belgium’s Ambassador in Romania

ES Philippe Beke, Belgium’s Ambassador in Romania, was present at the inauguration of the headquarters of Alfa Metal Machinery Group. This is located in the Mercury Business Center. The 45 employees of the company will perform their activity in one of the newest office buildings in Iasi.

The largest sales and service companies for high precision machine tools in Eastern Europe inaugurated yesterday, May 8th, its new headquarters inside Mercury Business Center. At the event took part His Excellency, Philippe Beke, Belgium’s Ambassador in Romania, together with local and regional officials. „One can feel an evolution since a Belgian company came first in Iasi, namely BMT. We wanted to come to Iasi to create jobs. The 45 people employed here are one step forward Iasi is a center for the development of business in the rest of the Central European states. It is a real opportunity for this center to be seen from outside its borders”, said Beke. The main business of the company is sales and service activities for all customers in the metal working industry and mass metal production.

„We are excited to add this modern 450 m² office to our venues, as the new headquarters in Iasi. Our customers are our number one priority and now we have the logistic background to provide prompt services, at European standards. We had to grow, so we grew. At the moment we have 45 employees and next year we will move our activity in Letcani“, said Patrick Favoreel, the company’s CEO.

Collaboration with technical high-schools

Thus, the international holding with Romanian – Belgian capital delivers high precision machine tools for metal processing. „Alfa Metal Machinery Group has aimed at supporting its customers through a substantial contribution of advanced technology and innovations and at developing partnerships with all technical universities, by means of which all projects that will contribute to the innovation of machine tools in the metal working industry will be supported, the accent falling on research and protection of the environment through recycling. At the same time, the company strives to decrease the lack of trained personnel with average studies, in this light wishing for a collaboration with specialized high-schools”, state the company’s representatives.

Alfa Metal Machinery Group had a turnover of almost 10 million euro last year, growing for the seventh year in a row. At the inauguration of the new headquarters the President of the Local Council, Cristian Adomniţei and the Vice-mayor, Mihai Chirica, were also present.
