PRESSMACH a brand with powerful resonance in Romania Last month, at VARD Tulcea, a high capacity horizontal profile bending press was installed, model PRESSMACH EPHH-400FB. This is destined for steel profiles required for constitutive parts of oceanic ship. The nominal capacity of 400 tf of this press allows its use for a large range of materials and dimensions. The success of this model is mainly due to the extremely solid construction and compact structure as well as to the highest quality components it was equipped with. The Vard Tulcea shipyard was founded in 1975, on the right bank of Danube river, at marine mile no. 39.5, on a surface of 750,000m˛, being one of the youngest companies in this branch in Romania. Between 1975 and 1999, the shipyard delivered to domestic and foreign customers over 200 ships (port-containers, fishing ships, tugboats, barges and other floating structures) and since 2000 we have been the favorite partners in the construction of offshore ships of certain companies in the oil and natural gas industry, such as DOF Offshore, SIEM, Farstad, with over 180 ships delivered. ![]() |
The main business of VARD Tulcea is the construction of offshore ships, with a high degree of reinforcement – platform supply vessels ( PSV), anchor handling tug supply (AHTS), offshore sub-aquatic construction vessels (OSCV). Furthermore, the company builds specialized ships, such as ferryboats with natural gas propulsion, coast guard vessels, fishing boats, ice breakers and commercial ships. Vard Tulcea has an integrated management system, certified ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. The company considers the compliance with the SSM norms as one of its central values and for this purpose all the activities are planned and carried out such as to ensure the protection of human life and health, of the environment and equipment. Between 2011 and 2013 Vard Tulcea implemented an ample investment program to increase productivity, quality and to keep up with the latest technologies. Two profile cutting lines were purchased, welding robots, two volume assembling sections were built, 2 micro plane lines, an impressive complex of 5 blasting and painting units was built, a new automated factory of tube processing, 2 cranes with a lifting capacity of 120 tons each. The increase of the production capacities also led to a reorganization of the production flow. Each investment was very important for the specific operations they were destined for, but their true value resides in the rethinking of the technological flux for optimization. ![]() |
